Caravan & Camping
Parks
Caravan & Camping parks provide a variety of
facilities. There are fully serviced parks with Mobile Homes
for hire on a weekend and weekly basis. They provide a high
standard of facilities for guests, usually including a games room,
TV room, playground and shop. These sites are complemented by a
number of sites dedicated to touring caravans and campers. There
are parks in Cappoquin, Dungarvan, Dunmore East, Tramore and in
the Nire Valley.
Guesthouse Accommodation
This category may provide less rooms than the mandatory
number required for a premises classified as a hotel. The standards
are high in the relevant categories, but guesthouses may provide
a more limited meal service than hotels. Guesthouses throughout
Ireland are included in an omnibus Accommodation Guide.
A regional accommodation guide is published by the South-East
Tourism Authority.
Bed & Breakfast
Guests stay in a family home and are
provided with bed and breakfast. There is a separate diningroom
for guests and sometimes evening meals are provided by arrangement.
The town and country homes and farmhouses range through period houses,
modern detached and semi-detached houses and bungalows. The Town
& Country Homes Association and the Farmhouse Association
produce guides to their membership throughout Ireland.
Hostels
Holiday Hostels provide clean, simple accommodation
at a budget price. The kitchen and commonroom often provide an opportunity
to meet fellow travellers. Room type may vary including twin, family
and multi-bedded rooms. Youth Hostels. An Óige, (Irish
Youth Hostel Association) operates a chain of 37 registered youth
hostels situated in some of the most scenic areas of Ireland. Usage
is confined to members of An Óige or other hostel associations
affiliated to the International Youth Hostel Federation.
Self Catering
This category of accommodation can range from purpose built Self
Catering Villages in high tourist amenity areas to Self Catering
Castles and individual homes of character.
